Fender / Precision Bass / 1962 / Fiesta Red / Bass For Sale

1962 Slab Board Fiesta Red Precision Bass is sometimes all you need.

We bought this direct from the owner of the last 30 odd years and he played it a lot. The workhorse bass that formed the backbone to hits from Motown to the Clash and beyond, the Precision Bass is bass guitar, the Genesis of amplified low register and the blue print for the instrument for years to come.

As is evident from the shielding plates, this bass has been through the mill when it comes to finishes, so much so that its almost impossible to ascertain the original finish. The presence of a tortoiseshell pickguard would suggest Olympic White or sunburst but we have no way of knowing.

The neck too has been refinished with evidence of the original finish visible under black light. The slab-board is in good shape. It has been refretted with new nut and there is still life left in the frets. The decal has been replaced when the neck was refinished. The tuner on the G string has been repaired.

The nitrate pick guard has shrunk slightly over the years but not as much as you’d expect maybe. There is a little warping but again is very minimal. The foil shield is present and original with the factory red stamps.

The hardware is in good condition. The bridge has some corrosion.

Electronically the pots were changed in the late 70s. One of the pickups may be from a 2 or 3 years later.

The bass comes with a hardshell case.

This bass delivers the right blend of growl and round full tone with authority without any need for bells or whistles. Just what you want!

This is a great bass with a killer tone. Grab it before it gets away
