For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1971 Fender Stratocaster in Firemist Gold with maple capped neck.

We have a CITES certificate to ship Rosewood internationally.

Robert "Count Rabbit" Robinson was an iconic figure in American Music. Born in 1932 in Alabama he began to sing and play guitar and soon after moved to Buffalo New York where he became a lifelong blues musician. In later years he became known as "Count Rabbit" as he fathered 25 children.

The Count also loved beautiful guitars and in 1970 he ordered a brand new Fender Stratocaster in Firemist Gold with a maple neck.

This is one of the rarer guitars we have ever offered and we have complete provenance to go with it. It has all the features you would expect from a 1970-71 Jimi Hendrix era Stratocaster. With its four bolt neck, single string tree, and rare maple capped neck this is a fantastic find and an incredible collector's piece. In 100% original condition this guitar was played by the Count but remains in pretty darn good shape. The case is even adorned with original artwork.

Where did the name Garrett Park Guitars come from?
GPG began as a hobby business in 1981 by Rick Hogue. "I was then employed in medical sales in the Washington D.C. area. Vintage guitars were bought, and sold locally at this point mainly in the DC metropolitan area. In 1982, I attended the Greater Southwest guitar show in Dallas, Texas for the first time. While there, I met collectors from across the US as well as many foreign collectors & dealers. At about the same time, I wanted to establish a business mailing address for buyers to correspond with him about vintage guitars. I visited the Kensington, Maryland post office to inquire about post office boxes for rent, and was told that they were sold out. The postal personnel refered me to the Post office in Garrett Park, Maryland, which had boxes for rent. The business was in need of a name, and Garrett Park Guitars had a certain ring to it, thus was born Garrett Park Guitars or GPG."

What other services does GPG offer?
an appraisal service is available to verify vintage instruments, as well as determining their market value. GPG was consulted by guitarist Lenny Kravitz to appraise his extensive collection. GPG has a complete repair service offering repair for guitar, bass, and guitar amplifiers. GPG is factory authorized for FENDER MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, as well as MARTIN GUITARS. In addition, GPG can restore vintage equipment, from very minor to complete rebuilding.

GPG offers lessons for all skill levels, our teachers are trained, skilled guitarists capable of beginner to advanced training.

GPG accepts consignments for sale of used & collectable instruments, a fee is charged based on the final retail price of the piece. This service is highly effective as GPG has an extensive outlet for guitars & guitar equipment.

GPG has an extensive inventory of parts to restore vintage guitars & amplifiers, a list of these parts is avalable on the main menu of our web-page and GPG maintains a thorough want file for parts.
