Fender / Stratocaster / 1974 / Black / Guitar

1974 Fender Stratocaster in black anyone?

One of the more common custom colours from this period, the combination of black body and one piece maple neck is iconic and arguably THE best combination for a classic early 70's Strat...

This one is in nice condition, it does have a few small dings here and there but overall the body is in fine shape. The maple neck is in great shape too with only a few minor knocks on the back. There is no sign of any wear on the fretboard and the original frets have plenty of life left in them. The headstock has some very minor bumps but still retains the shape edges and has faded very little.

Hardware too is in excellent condition. Plastics show no signs of fade.

Electrically everything looks undisturbed with pots dated at week 33 of 1974 and staggered pole piece, grey bottom pickups dated 1974 as well

The guitar comes with its correct black tolex hardshell case.

Sonically this guitar certainly delivers. The original staggered pole 1974 dated pickups are crisp sounding with a wide variety of tonal options. The addition of the five-way switch helps access the in-between tones more easily. The combination of maple fretboard and these pickups does make this a great guitar for some funky chordal work ala Nile Rogers but can quickly swap to more mellow neck position tones for some more Hendrixian noodling.

This guitar would make an excellent addition to any collection. Why buy a repro when you can get the real thing? Grab this before it gets away…
