Fender / Vibrolux Reverb / 1966 / Blackface / Amp

We're happy to present this beauty, a not-easy-to-find-at-all Blackface-era wonder: a 1966 Vibrolux Reverb. Probably one of the best-sounding low wattage amps in Fender history, with unmistakeable brightness and harmonics, sweet but oh so punchy!

Most of that punch is due to the 2 x 10'' speakers, not as warm as 12''s, which is precisely the fun of this amp: brightness and definition. Not as much headroom as a Super Reverb (obviously), but its 35W are a good in-between for enjoying both cleans at decent volumes, and those creamy tones without the walls falling apart.

In fact, it starts breaking relatively soon, but headroom has infinite tweaking possibilities. You can change the preamp tubes for 12AT7's or 12AY7's, or you can even reduce headroom even more by changing the phase inverter for a 12AX7 or a 12AU7! Anyway, enough tech-talk! Fender sound all over, gentlemen (kind of similar to the Deluxe Reverb, but with 2x10''s obviously, AND a "Brightness" switch, which will make all of those "twang freaks" very happy.

It takes pedals extremely well, apart from featuring a legendary reverb (what else). This is the ideal solution for anyone seeking for a versatile amp that will suit both the studio and local pub (35W)... AND STILL fit in your car trunk.

It is in excellent condition (see photos to see for yourself). Completely original, except for a 3-prong cord and some replaced filter caps, obviously (original Astrons included). Transformers are all original, correctly dated (late '65 and early '66). Tube chart is in excellent condition (stamp is "PH"). Original footswitch included, too. One of it's owners engraved his name with a pin or something, along with his SS number. It's hard to see (only at a distance and from certain angles), but it's there if you look closely, in both the front panel and near the back serial number.

Speakers appear to be original, though they don't have the date stamps (but the inner membranes do have the period-correct ID's).

Not easy to find a Vibrolux Reverb from this era in the first place, even less in this condition and sounding so well. You will love it, guaranteed.

In the last few years, online sale for musical instruments has experienced an amazing growth, but has passed right through the pre-owned market (that is, in Spain), limiting it to specialised forums and private owners. This is why Guitar Giraffe was born, the first physical and online second hand guitar and amp store (we like to call it "pre-owned", since we see a big difference between both terms), with a clear commitment of giving new options to guitarists locally and worldwide. Pre-owned guitar stores, so common in UK and USA, were practically nonexistent in Spain. We’ve wanted to fill that empty space by becoming the first physical and online store in our country focused on pre-owned guitars and amps.
