German Warwick / Thumb NT Bass / 1988 / Bubinga & Wenge / Bass

The Warwick “Thumb” Bass has become an iconic bottom end for over 3 1/2 decades w/their main endorser, Jack Bruce, using it exclusively since 1987. This is a very rare & extremely early 1st year example of an “NT” Neck-Thru body bass w/its offset double cutaway asymmetrical contoured Bubinga Pommele body, wenge neck & fretboard, 26 bronze frets, two-per-side Schaller tuners, black hardware, two added EMG J-style pickups (replacing its MEC pickups), volume/push-pull, pickup pan, tone bass/treble stacked, active electronics. Some other features are a brass Just-a-nut III, 2 piece Warwick solid brass bridge, strap lock system, Stacked Pickup Pan/Volume, push-pull EQ control, Mid control Stacked Treble/Bass control w/its 34″ long scale. What makes this such a cool collectible is its 1 of the 1st produced & has their 1st back of its headstock design having a deep carved contoured space for its tuners w/a neat separating wall in between the tuners & its serial # on top of its headstock (prior to moving that to the back of its headstock), both features eliminated soon after. Its got some basic play time & patina but has a funk tone like no other w/a fairly thin neck profile. Its excellent overall & comes it a nice padded gig bag.
