Gibson / Black Special L-50’s / 1937 / Black / Guitar

Prewar model. Gibson offered occasional limited non-cataloged dealer specials in the late 30’s and on into the wartime period. This Special was available from 1937-40 and clearly was made to put a full sized archtop in a player’s hands at an affordable price. This is a 16” guitar with a carved spruce top and a flat maple back with braces. Its not unlike the 16” flat backed L-50’s of the period, but the black finish and silkscreened logo were a means to keep the cost down. This one is in nearly perfect condition and comes with the original case!

Welcome to our page here on V&R

Between 1995 and 2010 we ran a small fine quality vintage guitar shop in the centre of Bavaria/Germany.

Since April 2010 we have been running our business only virtually.

Here in this side we will offer you our vintage guitars. It will, however, still be possible, by appointment, to test the guitars in our showroom. Also we will ship our instruments worldwide.

All instruments are subject to prior sale. So call first for availability. We only get to sell the one piece and then it`s gone!

If you wish to reserve any piece, please call us and make arrangements.

We ship inside Europe with DHL. All shipping charges & insurance are customers responsibility.

All prices must be paid in
