Gibson / Custom Shop EDS 1275 / 2016 / Cherry / Guitar

A guitar that needs no introudction or any The EDS-1275 is one of the most instantly recognisable guitars ever. Combining a 12-string and a 6-string guitar in one with a distinct SG-style body, the EDS-1275 has become a rock icon, and now the Gibson Custom Shop have brought it back to give a new generation of players the chance to own this unique and inspiring instrument.

Body and Neck(s) The EDS-1275 follows the tried and tested Gibson formula of a mahogany body with a mahogany neck, or necks in this case. The body itself is made from a single piece of mahogany and is finished with nitrocellulose lacquer so it’ll age and wear gracefully as you play it over the years.

Both necks have a Slim C shape which fits comfortably in the hand and makes switching between the two necks a breeze. The necks are topped with 12” radius rosewood fingerboards which provide a smooth, natural-feeling fretting surface that’s comfortable for both chords and soloing alike.

Pickups At the heart of the EDS-1275 are four Alnico 3 Gibson Custombuckers. These pickups are a recreation of Gibson’s legendary PAF humbuckers that helped define the sound of rock from the 50s and beyond. Mellower than modern humbuckers, these pickups still pack plenty of punch but with a smoothness and roundness to the tone. From warm jazz tones to powerful rock these pickups can handle it all. In addition to the usual three-way pickup selector you also get a three way neck selector so you can switch between the 6-string and 12-string side or set it in the middle and have both accessible at the same time.
