Gibson / ES-295 / 1956 / Gold / Guitar

Scotty Moore would be proud himself to see such a nice example of a Gibson ES-295, all-original, in beautiful condition, and sounding good enough for and Elvis remake of the Sun Recordings!

Folks, since this has entered our showroom, it looks like we’re in El Dorado. Yes, this all-gold archtop from 1956 is kept like a little treasure. And sounds like one, too. Deep but twangy, loud but balanced and resonant… absolutely delicious to play and look at.

Really well cared for all these years, this guitar is absolutely 100% original, except for the repro pickguard. All solder joints are untouched, there are NO touchups, oversprays, refinishes of ANY kind. You know what happens when sweat comes in contact with the copper in the gold finish, it turns green. This guitar barely has any of that except in the back of the neck, and even there it isn’t too bad. The previous owner probably still thought it was yucky, so some lacquer (thus, green) either wore out, fell, or was peeled where the thumb would rest. Gold is still there. Not a big deal, but I mention it to assure you: finish is 100% original, no touchups of ANY kind, or oversprays, or refins.

No breaks, either, or repairs of ANY kind. I mean, the guitar is in insane condition. Yes, it has some beautiful checking in some areas, and it looks gorgeous. Pickguard is the only non-original part in this guitar. Frets appear to be original, with nibs still very present.

Factory Order Number is from 1955 (W), but we believe the guitar to have left Gibson in early/mid ’56.

Tuners are interesting. This was the transtional year for Kluson no-line to Kluson single-line tuners. You have a mix of them here. All with their PAT numbers inside, but some single-line, and some no-line, which is kind of cool. Yes, original "burst" gold hat knobs.

The guitar includes its original Gibson-badge brown case with brown interior.

This thing is ready to twang, rock, jazz, and elevate music to celestial levels anytime, anywhere. So you decide what you want to do.

In the last few years, online sale for musical instruments has experienced an amazing growth, but has passed right through the pre-owned market (that is, in Spain), limiting it to specialised forums and private owners. This is why Guitar Giraffe was born, the first physical and online second hand guitar and amp store (we like to call it "pre-owned", since we see a big difference between both terms), with a clear commitment of giving new options to guitarists locally and worldwide. Pre-owned guitar stores, so common in UK and USA, were practically nonexistent in Spain. We’ve wanted to fill that empty space by becoming the first physical and online store in our country focused on pre-owned guitars and amps.
