Gibson / ES-345 TD / 1964 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale

A super clean 1964 Gibson ES-345 TD anyone?

This factory stop-tail example is in absolutely stunning condition. There are the odd very minor knocks but overall the finish on this guitar is spectacular and unblemished.

The neck is in great condition with hardly any sign of wear. As you'd expect there are a few minor knocks and there is a patch on the headstock that has been colored in but this is nit picking. The fretboard has survived well with no signs of wear. This goes for the frets that have plenty of life left in them. The nut has been changed as the guitar was strung left handed for many years.

Hardware has been slightly modified as much as the gold plating has been mostly removed. More gold was applied to the stop tail and bridge at some stage but this has also worn off. The covers have had all the gold plating removed. The plastics are in great shape.

Electrically everything is correct and un-altered. The guitar comes with its correct stereo wire. The solder on the neck pickup looks like it's been disturbed whereas the solder on the bridge pickup does not.

The guitar comes with a hardshell case.

All the touchstone tones are present here, the Patent Number pickups delivering as you’d expect. The neck has that unmistakable 1964 feel, possibly the ‘Goldilocks’ of Gibson guitar necks (not too fat but not too thin either, just right). The varitone does add extra weight which when sat down tends to make the guitar want to slip back but the sound and feel of this guitar quickly pushes that worry to the back of the mind. The sound is authoritative without being too heavy in the lower midrange. The bridge pickup barks when encouraged whilst the neck pickup is all kinds of smooth without losing definition.

This is a killer example in great condition. Grab it before it gets away…
