Gibson / ES-345TDCSV / 1963 / See-Thru Cherry Red / Guitar

This is a very late & quite rare version of Gibson’s ES-345TDCSV “Stereo Varitone” model w/a factory Stop Tailpiece. Its introduction year was 1959 & was offered in a Tobacco’burst or this see-thru Cherry Red finish. Introduced in the Spring of 1959, the ES-345 was an upmarket upgrade to the popular ES-335, combining Gibson’s reputation for cutting-edge innovation with classic traditional design. The thin body was easier for players to hold than conventional archtops, the inner block enhanced sustain and reduced feedback, and the revolutionary “Patent Applied For” humbucking pickups set a standard of performance unmatched to this day. These original gold Pat. # stickered pickups were essentially a late PAF w/the same traits & windings that produce a smooth, high output signal with all the snap, crunch and sustain you’d expect from the world’s most sought after electronics. The nitrocellulose finish is 100% original & super clean & an amazing site. It has a 1 piece wide mahogany neck; maple top, back, and sides; solid Brazilian rosewood fingerboard; solid bone nut. The most upscale version of the 345, the SV is equipped with both stereo wiring and the Varitone multi-function control, for unmatched versatility in tonal range. Unusual but original having no serial # ever on its headstock like a leftover neck from 1960 yet has a clean orange label w/is serial # intact. Its elegant gold hardware throughout, the 345 became an instant classic, and remained one of the worlds’ most innovative electric guitars until regular production ceased over three decades ago. She still sports her original Black pickgard that finishes her off so well. From its single line single ring Kluson tuners (yes a few buttons have been replaced) to its factory Stop Tailpiece to its rare Black w/gold cap knobs, she’s a pure manly original. She’s all original & absolutely exceptionally clean overall & comes in its original Black Tolex/Yella Lined hard case.
