Gibson / ES345TD / 1965 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
Now available on consignment, a 1965 Gibson ES-345TD in Sunburst.
This is a very early 1965 ES345 still retaining all of the '64 specifications including the wide 1&11/16" nut width, a Brazillian Rosewood fingerboard, and a factory stop-tail piece.
This guitar presents well, with only minor modifications, this particular 345 is marked with a 2 above the serial number, indicating it is a factory second, most likely due to the split center seam join on the top, an issue not uncommon to this period of Gibson. This split is stable however, and most likely will never be an issue, other than aesthetically.
Modifications to this guitar are; saddles replaced with new nylon, tuners replaced, strap buttons replaced and a re-fret with medium-jumbo wire. Other than these changes, this guitar retains the stereo input and varitone circuit, as well as both original patent # humbucking pickups that have had the covers off however are otherwise original.
Cosmetically it is in good condition, plenty of subtle checking in the original finish, and only one or two minor dings to be seen. There are no cracks or breaks to the neck, and the neck is straight and plays very smoothly, and overall it’s a very easy-playing, satisfying guitar.
Includes a non-original hard case.
