Gibson / FLYING V SPECIAL ORDER / 1984 / See-thru Green Finish / Guitar

This is a very unusual special ordered Flying V made during Gibson’s moving of their factory to Nashville. We have had our share of some very odd guitars made by them during this transitional period from 1 plant to another. This Flying V is made from some beautiful striped Mahogany w/this rich see-thru Green finish all over its body & 3 piece neck. It has an unusual inked on serial # unlike most others from this period except a few Les Paul Reissues. It appears to have be made w/a factory Nashville bridge & stop tailpiece. It now sports an original White laminated Pickgard w/matching truss rod cover from a 1975 Flying V loaded w/a set of Pat.# stamped Humbucking pickups w/pots dated to 1975. It also has factory stop studs if needed & a cool 60’s short factory tremolo unit in place “a la 1967”. Its Kluson tuners appear to be reproductions. Lastly it has had a major headstock break that was repaired quite nicely having only slight paint touch up (see pics) . It is what it is & has a great vibe w/an incredible tone like an original from 1959. Notice the last pic of a cool 1984 Explorer we owned once that matches quite coincidentally. Just in from its 30 year caretaker, its a pretty piece & a great player for those interested. Its Very Good overall & comes in its original hard case.
