Gibson / Flying V / 1967 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
I saw Albert King a couple of times. The first time was at the Warehouse in Carter Lake Iowa in 1981. The name of the venue is an accurate description of what the place was. I went with Frito and Jane and Meg Bury. That was a fun night. The next time was a sunny afternoon, around 1988 in the Estuary Park in Oakland CA. Albert King was famous for his blues. He was also the king of the Flying V and flew a few different versions of his trademark guitar in his lifetime. The guitar being offered here is very much the same color and year as the one used by Albert during his STAX records, Born Under a Bad Sign creative peak. The finish is a very subtle version of sunburst and very few were made in this color. There was also a brighter sunburst finish that Gibson used on the next batch. Somewhere on the internet I found a promotional Gibson picture of Albert King with his sunburst V. That was his main guitar for years. This guitar is still in pretty intact condition. The finish and parts and case are original. There are I think two small screw holes by the tailpiece. There have also been efforts to repair and strengthen the original pickguard which is still in place. Thanks for looking.
