Gibson / L3 Sunburst W/ Original Case / 1923 / Guitar

Now here is a guitar of which we can never get enough; meet this magnificent Gibson L3 manufactured in the year 1923. Gibson manufactured the L-3 between 1902 and 1933. Production started around a decade after Orville Gibson had invented the arched top guitar. In common with the other L guitars of the time the L-3 was available in different body sizes - ranging from 12.5 to 16 inches wide. Initially the sound hole was round but this was changed to an oval soundhole from 1928 to 1933. With a body width of 13.5” this L-3 is significantly smaller than Gibson's 16” L4 and L5 models, and has a string balance that favours mids and upper mids over the lower frequencies that the larger guitars push out. As a result, this L-3 is well suited to playing a lead role in old-time music thanks to its excellent cut and placement within a mix. Given the fact that this guitar is just a few years shy of celebrating its 100th birtday this instrument still remains in great condition. Officially we rate the condition as "Good"; it bears the marks matching its age and looks to be largely original. It shows not so clear signs of a very old overspray to the neck, maybe even the back, but it's to long ago, and if- done to well, one soundhole crack along fingerboard, also the tuners are replaced and it shows three corner separations on the back, still open, otherwise it's clean. It is also missing the original pickguard. Included with the sale is a beautiful original hardshell case. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
