Gibson / LG-2 / 1947 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
This Gibson LG-2 from the late 40's is as sweet sounding as they come! An intimate, harmonically rich acoustic guitar, with a ton of vibe and a great "opened-up" tone as well as excellent playability.
At some time in its past this guitar has been played by Mike Campbell (guitarist for Tom Petty) - unfortunatelly there is no proof for this.
This nice guitar solid spruce and mahogany construction, with a nicely aged warm sunburst finish, a mahogany neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard, a rosewood bridge. It has the original Kluson tuners too.
This guitar in is good shape - it does have normal finish checking, some finish wear around the sound hold, and some general wear consistent with age. On the back several cracks have been repaired. Some of the bracing has been renewed as well.
The guitar boasts excellent play-ability with good angles. Notes just jump off the fingerboard of this one - is a great example of an earlier post-war LG-2!
The FON has completely faded away, but according to the specs and the previos owners information, it is from the late 40's
It comes with and installed L.R. Baggs soundhole pickup and an old, probably original case.
