Gibson Les Paul Goldtop (1956) – Goldtop, Tune-O-Matic
We are pleased to offer this 1956 Les Paul from Gibson, equipped with the original Tune-O-Matic bridge and lightweight aluminum tailpiece.
This specification marks an important development in the Les Paul evolution, introducing improved intonation compared to earlier wraparound bridge designs. Goldtop examples from this period with original Tune-O-Matic configuration are produced in relatively limited numbers and remain highly sought after.
The guitar shows play wear and weather checking consistent with age, while overall presenting in excellent-plus vintage condition.
The tuners show evidence of having been changed at one point but have since been restored to original Kluson units. All other components are original.
Notably, this example is very lightweight.
The instrument delivers the characteristic tone expected from a mid-1950s Les Paul , with strong response and clarity.
