Gibson / Les Paul 55 Special / 1974 / Sunburst / Guitar

Just in from its original owner who bought the guitar in 1974.

This guitar is in great condition. The one piece mahogany body shows no real signs of use with an unfaded tobacco burst. The three piece neck is in equally good condition, without the volute which is a feature of these guitars produced in 1974. The fretboard is in great shape with plenty of life left in the original frets.

These are actually really cool guitars and were introduced in 1973 and titled ‘55 Special’ however they bear no resemblance at all to any Les Paul Special produced in that year, in fact all the Specials we have seen have been TV Yellow. We believe these ran until 1975 when they were discontinued so a fairly rare-ish guitar, especially one with no breaks and no mods at all.

The hardware is in great shape with very little corrosion. Plastics too have been well looked after.

Electrically solder joints are undisturbed and everything looks to be correct.

The guitar comes with its correct black tolex case with purple lining.

Not quite 50s gibson tone but these 70s P90s still deliver that classic tone in a package that for the time is a nice surprise.

Quite a rarity, this guitar will make a fantastic addition to any collection.
