Gibson / Les Paul Standard / 1953 / Goldtop / Guitar

1953, late 1953 classic Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop with classic ‘54 neck profile, classic vintage P-90 tone and a real nice, all original finish and a super light weight.

Our latest Goldtop is all correct bar a re-fret. This re-fret has been carried out extremely professionally and sympathetically with frets that are maybe a tiny bit larger then what it was born with back in late 1953 but the work has been perfectly executed with proper dressing and virtually no tooling marks that only goes to enhance the real cool playing experience. In fact with it’s desirable chunkyish, ‘54 neck profile and the recent fret job, it makes this guitar a real joy to hold in your hands and play.

Everything else is all correct or original including the solder, all the paint work with no touch ups or overspray anywhere. All hardware and electrics are also correct, the jack plate has been pushed in slightly but works just fine and there is a couple of cracks by the volume control on the top layer of finish. Serial number has been partially obscured for some reason that I am sure will be forever debated about but you can make out (we think) 3 8xx2. It even backlights so whatever happened must have been a long, long time ago.

Condition is very good. It is not mint as you can see, there is some wear and tear here and there, some checking all over which is very pleasant. Fingerboard is nice and smooth, there is virtually no wear on the frets of course and it has a superb, played in vibe about it - just have a look at the many pictures in the gallery and you will see what I mean.

Case is original brown, 4 latch Lifton type with the classic pink lining and I have no reason to doubt this is the case the guitar came with from new.

Sound from both those P-90 picks is creamy with enough bite to satisfy anyone, I cannot personally see how anyone would be disappointed by this guitar either in sound, or playability. it also happens to be one of the lightest ones we have had recently and I am sure will make its new owner very happy.
