Gibson Les Paul Standard 1958
We are pleased to offer this stunning 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard, serial number 8 5490.
As the first year of Sunburst Les Paul production, 1958 holds particular significance in the model’s history. According to the seller, production numbers for 1958 were the lowest of the original Burst years, with approximately 250 to 300 examples produced.
This example retains a rich cherry sunburst finish over a subtly figured maple top. It is described as completely untouched aside from a professionally executed refret carried out within the last 12 months.
The neck profile is full and inviting, measuring .91 at the 1st fret and .98 at the 12th fret, with soft shoulders and a comfortable feel in hand.
It is fitted with two factory sealed double black PAF pickups, measuring:
- 7.60k neck
- 8.05k bridge
The guitar weighs 9 lbs 2 oz and is described as well balanced.
Included with the guitar are some of its original hangtags and original strap.
A highly appealing 1958 Burst combining first-year significance, strong originality, and excellent player appeal.
