Gibson Les Paul Standard 1960
We are pleased to offer this 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard, serial number 0 2165, known as “Birdy.”
This is an early 1960 example, produced in the first third of the year and retaining the transitional specification associated with late 1959 appointments.
Birdy has been a working musician’s Burst since the 1960s. According to the seller, Gary Ciuci received the guitar from his neighbor in the mid-1960s and used it throughout his career. In 2014, the guitar was sold to J.J. Blair, Grammy-winning producer, engineer, and musician. A letter from J.J. Blair and a pair of digital photographs are included with the sale.
Visually, the guitar features a birdseye maple top that has mellowed into a tea burst appearance with remaining traces of cherry.
The guitar is fitted with two double black PAF pickups, measuring:
- 7.91k neck
- 8.45k bridge
It has newer frets with good remaining life and is described as playing well across the fingerboard.
A highly appealing early 1960 Burst with documented musician ownership, desirable early features, and strong player appeal.
