Gibson offered two Les Paul Standard models in 2017, the T (Traditional) and HP (High Performance), to provide customers a clear choice between classic vintage specifications and modern, player-focused features. The T line catered to purists, while the HP line introduced contemporary innovations. Unlike the historically accurate reissues, the 2017 model featured modern upgrades such as ultra-modern weight relief for comfort and a Graph Tech nut. Another key feature was the advanced wiring with four push/pull controls (two for coil tapping, one for phase reversal, and one for pure bypass), offering a vast array of tonal possibilities beyond the traditional Les Paul sound. This specific model is finished in the desirable Heritage Cherry Sunburst on an AAA flamed maple top, a classic and highly sought-after aesthetic that provides a visually stunning look.
