Gibson / Non Reverse Firebird III / 1965 / Tobacco Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
1965 non-reverse Gibson Firebird III?
Not many survived the 60’s 70’s 80’s let alone into the Naughties without some kind of issue, usually the dreaded headstock break due to bad case design. This one has had some work done on the heel which has resulted in a touch up in that area (very well hidden) and a overspray on the back of the neck but is otherwise in amazing condition, without any kind of modifications or ‘upgrades’ at all.
The body shows some signs of use. The work on the heel can only really be seen under UV light which shows the extremely well done touch up. Other than that there are a few dinks but nothing that really detracts from the look of this guitar.
Neck on this one is very comfortable to play. There is no real wear to the back or the fretboard, the original frets have plenty of life left in them. There is no sign of any headstock breaks.
The pickguard shows signs of shrinkage and a minor crack near a screw but otherwise is in one piece.
The hardware is in good condition. You'll notice that the bridge is chrome and the maestro is nickel. This was a transitional period for Gibson so it's common to find this combination at this time.
Electrically everything looks to be correct though there are signs that some solder has been reflowed. The pots read week 39 of 1965.
The trio of P90s do their job in their own inimitable way and provide a very cool, bluesy sound that is well balanced and clear.
Original case is in excellent shape,
Not many of these have survived the ravages of time. This one might have had a minor repair but is in stunning condition and would make a fine addition to any collection.
