Gibson / RB250 Mastertone Banjo / 1990 / Stringed Instrument For Sale

Introduced in 1949 as a more accessible alternative to the famed RB3, the RB250 Mastertone shared virtually all its key specifications with this legendary model. The only difference? The RB250 featured simpler fingerboard inlays instead of the RB3's elaborate Wreath decoration. Gibson built only a limited number of these banjos each year, making them even more sought-after by collectors and players seeking authentic vintage Gibson quality. What makes the RB250 so special is that unmistakable Gibson snap in the treble, a clarity and power of attack that only Gibsons from this era can produce. The combination of the flathead tone ring and the laminated mahogany rim creates a perfectly balanced tone with excellent projection and that characteristic bright attack that bluegrass players love. The mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard offers comfortable playability, while the 11-inch Remo Weatherking head ensures a consistent and reliable tone. This 1990 RB250 belongs to one of the last generations Gibson produced before a devastating flood in 2010 destroyed the banjo and mandolin facilities in Nashville. Production has not resumed since then, making these instruments even more rare and valuable. The banjo is in excellent condition and has accumulated the typical playwear that gives a vintage instrument its charm, without affecting its sound or playability. For the musician seeking that authentic Gibson sound without the price tag of an RB3, this RB250 is an excellent choice. It's an instrument that has proven its worth both on stage and in the studio, and is now ready for a new owner who wants to continue this tradition. The banjo comes in its original hardshell case with a TFOA passport.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
