Gibson / SG Junior / 1968 / Cherry Red / Guitar

I cannot tell you how many times a youngster decides that he or she wants to learn guitar and they go to their parents with that classic statement, "Mom, I want a guitar." There's absolutely nothing wrong with that event and it's great to see the youth of today get ready to hopefully make the music of tomorrow, but the next step is where things so often go terribly wrong. Mom takes the child down to the local Wal- Guitar store and asks, "Well 'lil Bobby, what kind of guitar do you want?" and 'lil Bobby replies, "I want THAT one". Mom looks up on the wall to see a shiny, new Sonicator XK-5000 with a solid Brazilian rosewood trem arm and a titanium fretboard. It has 6 pickups in the body, one on the back of the headstock and is priced at $6,995.00. Mom is a little sticker shocked, but in hopes of keeping 'lil Bobby off the internet gaming system all night, every night, she buys it. Oh, the salesman graciously puts her into a Crate Blue Voodoo half- stack with extra strings, picks, guitar stand, T- shirt, tuner, effects pedal and cymbal stand. You certainly get the picture by now, right? Anyhoo, 'lil Bobby goes home, sets everything up and starts playing. After about 30 minutes, his fingertips start to get a little tender and he realizes that he does not sound like Munky from Korn at all. In fact, this is just no fun so he puts the guitar back in it's case and gets his headset and "Titans of Mars Wars" controller. That's it, case closed- it's done and over.

A possible solution to this horrible situation would be the purchase of this sassy little '68 Junior. It's compact, lightweight, clean, original and if 'lil Bobby just doesn't have Madison Square Gardens in his future, you can always get your money back. Mom puts the guitar up on Craigslist and quickly sells it. Seeing how easy it would be to become a quad- zillionaire selling guitars, Mom becomes a guitar dealer and is soon hawking Les Pauls out of the trunk of her station wagon at midnight in a Waffle House parking lot. She becomes obscenely wealthy and soon leaves her family for the 28- year old pool boy that lives two neighborhoods over and 'lil Bobby's world is rent asunder. So, in order to assure the security of the country's future musical youth, purchase this SG, give it to your kid and if they give you any lip, smack them in the back of the head and tell them to go practice. It sure worked for me...
