Gibson / SG Standard / 1966 / Pelham Blue / Guitar For Sale
1966 Gibson SG Standard, Original Pelham Blue
A particularly rare 1966 Gibson SG Standard in original Pelham Blue finish.
Custom-colour Gibson instruments from the mid-1960s are considerably scarcer than their standard-finish counterparts, and an original Pelham Blue SG Standard from this period is an especially difficult guitar to find. This example retains a remarkably attractive original finish, with only the expected light wear and ageing associated with a vintage instrument of this age.
The guitar retains its original period hardware, electronics, and pickups. The original square-window numbered humbuckers deliver the rich harmonics, clarity, and open response associated with mid-1960s Gibson instruments.
The frets and nut have been replaced, giving the guitar very good playability, while the remaining parts are reported as original.
Beyond its rarity as a custom-colour SG, the combination of the aged Pelham Blue finish, chrome hardware, twin humbuckers, and classic mid-1960s SG construction makes this a highly collectible example that remains completely suited to being played.
