Gibson / SG Standard / 1974 / Faded Cherry / Walnut / Guitar

This Gibson SG Standard with serial number 300009 was manufactured in 1974. It has an ebony fretboard and a faded brown/walnut finish. Other typical features of the era are the wide ‘Harmonica’ bridge, a laminated mahogany neck with volute, block position markers and a large headstock. The wide yet flat frets are barely worn and perfectly playable. The neck shape is comfortable to play, with a (for this era) relatively wide spacing in the nut and a full but constant shape over the entire length of the neck.

Probably due to the low weight and the one-piece mahogany body this guitar is very lively and resonant and also very comfortable to wear on a strap. The Gibson Patent Number humbucker pickups translate this acoustic tone to a full, mid-rich yet defined amplified sound that will work well for a whole range of genres and playing styles.

Unfortunately there’s a hole next to the toggle switch from an earlier fitted extra switch that was removed. This hole will be plugged professionally by our in-house luthier. As soon as this work is done we’ll update our photo’s.

The original case and manual are included with the sale.
