Gretsch / Chet Atkins Tennessean / 1966 / Cherry / Guitar For Sale
Now available on consignment, a1966 Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean Model.
Conceived as a low-end alternative to the higher level Chet Atkins signature guitars, the Tennessean consists of simpler construction & decoration than its more expensive peers.
This model is typical of a ‘66 era Gretsch, featuring two Hi-Lo Tron pickups, a straight bar bridge, painted on f-holes, and no back binding. Though still early enough to retain the milled brass knobs and a good Bigsby, as well as a set of well-functioning Van Gent tuners.
Cosmetically this guitar is in fairly good shape for a Gretsch of this period, though the front veneer of the headstock is quite split, though not affecting playability at all. There is a little binding rot is present, but not very far advanced, and is only pitting at the piece of binding next to the neck heel.
Solid comfortable neck, wide & accessible board, don’t be fooled by the budget approach, this guitar is rock solid, sparkly, & sound and feels wonderful to play.
Includes its original case.
