- Body: 17" wide, 2" deep double-cutaway hollowbody made of laminated maple
- Finish: Shaded Golden Sunburst
- Neck: Maple
- Scale length: 25.5"
- Fretboard: Ebony
- Fretboard Inlays: Neo-classic "thumbnail" markers on the bass side, with dot markers starting at the 15th fret
- Nut: 1 11/16" width with a zero fret
- Pickups: Dual Super'Tron humbuckers with blade-style poles rather than individual screws
- Electronics: 3-way pickup selector switch, 3-way tone selector switch (preset EQ), 3-way standby/kill switch
- Controls: Master volume and two individual pickup volume knobs
- Tailpiece: Bigsby B6G
- Bridge: Floating Sound Unit (Tuning Fork) bridge
- Mute: Mechanical string mute engaged by a lever
- Tuners: Grover Imperial tuners with "stair-step" buttons
- Pickguard: Gold plexi with Viking logo
- Additional Features: Padded back cushion (to hide the electronics access plate) and "T-Zone" tempered treble frets
- Condition: 6/10 (damaged binding, common issue - celluloid rot)

Comments:
The Gretsch Viking (or 6187) was a flagship thinline hollowbody electric guitar positioned just below the White Falcon in Gretsch's premium lineup. Introduced in 1965, the Viking was designed to be a feature-rich, "advanced" instrument aimed at both rock and jazz players. It was the first model to feature Super'Tron pickups and the innovative (though controversial) Floating Sound Unit, a metal tuning fork mounted between the bridge and tailpiece intended to increase sustain. The model originally included the "T-Zone Tempered Treble" (angled frets in the high register for better intonation). Over time, these complex features were gradually phased out until production ended in 1971. 1967 marked the transition of Gretsch to the Baldwin Piano Company, leading to some minor manufacturing changes like "Made in USA" stamps on later 1967 serial numbers.
