Guild / D55 / 1972 / Natural / Guitar
Vintage Guild D-55 for the singer/songwriters! This ‘special order only’ 1972 classic is one excellent sounding and playing guitar. A player doing all the picking and strumming you need.
In the late ’60s, the Guild D-55 entered their dreadnought line-up as the flagship model. She was only available as a special order until 1974. Though similar in design to the D-50, this great D-55 features higher-end cosmetic appointments like block inlays and a multi-bound fingerboard, headstock, top and back. The guitar has a solid Sitka Spruce top, solid Indian Rosewood back and sides and Rosewood bridge and Ebony fretboard. She is a magnificent flat-picking and strumming guitar with a very loud and lush tone. The low 2.5 mm action and the nice d-shape neck make her very comfortable to play.
Her condition is EXCELLENT. Neck reset and a fret job brought her back to life. Job well done! Various dings and scratches showing use as one would expect from a great sounding guitar. Tuners work good. Original bridge and bridge plate. The bridge is the Indian Rosewood version like the original 1968 model which was Brazilian Rosewood. Late 1972 they switched to Ebony bridges. The gold on the tuners has faded. The Grover tuners work perfect. No cracks or other repairs. The pictures give a good idea of the cosmetic condition. As you can see this babe has seen a lot of action, as one would expect from a tonal point of view. Phenomenal! A K&K Mini Pure is fitted to go all out live or record this great sounding classic. Guild fans, you won’t find many of these left, and it’s ready to play right out of the case!

We are happy to consider Trades towards the purchase of most of our instruments. Also we do acknowledge that, due to eg. investment costs and market changes, trades usually will not give you the highest return for your instruments. On the other hand trading has its advantages:
utilize the value of your current instrument immediately
purchase that special guitar that you've been searching for, before it's sold to someone else.
save on costs in time and money of advertising and selling an instrument yourself,
eliminate the frustration and potential loss associated with inconsiderate, untruthful and possibly unscrupulous 'buyers'.
We are good at valuing instruments and make every attempt to determine fair trade values.
Our focus is on developing and maintaining long term relationships with our customers, not on one single transaction. If you are considering a trade towards one of our instruments, please call us at (046) 4497124.
A '90 days layaway' option is available on all new instruments. This is the easiest way to secure that one guitar you've been dreaming of! Simply make 3 non-refundable payments equal to 1/3 of the cost of one of our new instruments (link naar new).
The honors of this idea go to a customer of one of my well respected fellow guitar salesman. This customers came up with this brilliant idea and we decided to use it for our customers.
At any time you can trade in a new of used instrument bought from us for a more expensive instrument for the same amount you bought it. There are three precondition:
You've bought him here
the instrument is located in greater or lesser degree in the same condition
you show us the original receipt
Example: John bought a Lowden 035 for € 5500 euro in December 2010. Three month later (or two years or even 15 years later for the matter) he decides that the beautiful Rozawood Diamond-28 in Brazilian Rosewood for € 8800 in our shop is his next guitar. He pays for this baby with his current O35 and adds € 3300 (8800 - 5500). It's as simple as that!
The Upgrade Policy applies only to the original owner!
Show us the original receipt of the instrument. When bought at a different store this policy is not applicable.
The instrument should be more or less the same condition as when you bought it! Light wear, very small dents or light scratches are no problem, but a broken neck, cracks and other big changes will affect the value.
The instrument which you trade it should be at least 10% more value with a minimum of € 500.
VAT, shipping and payment costs (Paypal or Credit Card Fees) are not part of the upgrade policy.
Consignment instruments are not eligible for the upgrade policy.
This upgrade policy applies only to guitars in our stock and not "Custom Order" or "Special Order" instruments. You can only upgrade one guitar a year.
Want to know the current value of your instruments? The instrument market is ever changing, tonewood scarcity and other market factors constantly alter the value of custom, boutique and vintage instruments. Diamond Guitars can tell you exactly what your instrument is worth.
Two types of appraisals are offered:
a verbal/email appraisals based on photos and description (45 Euro)
a written, dated and signed appraisal on Diamond Guitars letterhead for instruments that are physically and personally inspected by me (105 Euro)
Appraisals are 45 and 105 E.
Use our Appraisal Request Form to send us detailed information about your instrument.
Alternatively you can contact us to speak with an associate about sending photos of your instrument. We will need 5-10 photos covering each area of the instrument [Front, back, headstock, tuners, neck joint, etc.]. From photos we can only provide a verbal/email appraisal.
Call to make payment for the appraisal fee.
Optionally, you may send us the instrument or make an appointment for a thorough physical inspection and a written estimate that is signed and dated on Diamond Guitar letterhead.

Diamond Guitars Maintenance Package
Oasis Digital Hygrometer msrp 29,90
A guitar, or any other stringed musical instrument made of wood, is at risk of cracking when the relative humidity drops below 40%. The Oasis® Digital Hygrometer accurately measures relative humidity and can help you decide when to use your Oasis® Guitar Humidifier. Because relative humidity varies greatly, even inside your home, we recommend that you keep your hygrometer close to your instrument.
Oasis Guitar Humidfier msrp 19,99
The body of Oasis® is made from a specially designed fabric that allows water vapor (but not water) to pass through it. As the vapor transmission takes place, a vacuum is created and Oasis® shrinks to compensate for the loss of water. By watching the Oasis® shrink, you can determine when it is ready for refill. When refilling, you don't have to guess when it is full. Simply unscrew the black cap, fill with water to the top of the container and replace the cap. Once sealed, the water tight container is your first line of defense against leaks. Humigel™, the super absorbent polymer crystals inside Oasis™, are your second line of defense. Humigel™ captures up to 500 times its weight in water in an absorbent gel matrix.polish cloth
