Guild / F-47 / 1967 / Sunburst / Guitar

Up for sale is a gorgeous vintage Guild F-47 acoustic from 1967 in very good condition. This is a 16’ small jumbo guitar built by Guild in 1967 in Hoboken New Jersey. The F-47 is sometimes referred to as the F-47 Bluegrass model and replaced the F-40 Buegrass which had an odd pickguard.

Guild is one of the big US-American manufacturers of guitars beside Martin and Gibson. The company was founded in 1952 by Alfred Dronge and George Mann. By 1956 Guild was already so successful that they had to move to larger premises in Hoboken, New Jersey. Here some of the Guild guitars that are in great demand today were built.

During the 1950’s and 1960’s, Guild supplied many of the famous musicians and became increasingly popular.

From the golden age of Guild comes this great F-47. This is the “big old” F-shape and clearly marks itself out as a competitor to the venerable Martin 000-18.

It sounds resonant and punchy, with a full and deep tone. It has the vintage warmth you want and is truely a charming instrument. It has a comfortable action (had a neck reset) and a great feeling neck.

The guitar is clean and only shows some amount of wear from play and use.

It comes with the original case.
