Gurian / S2M Mahogany Spruce / 1977 / Guitar

This is a very rare Michael Gurian S2M from approximatly 1977. This is one of the first handmade boutique guitars ever made. In the 1960s, Michael Gurian founded one of the earliest boutique guitar companies, producing an estimate of 5000 high quality acoustic guitars. After his company burned down a third time, he stopped producing guitars and concentrated on inlay components for quality musical instruments. This company still exists and is considered one of better specialists in the world. Since the guitars were only made between 1965 and 1981 you will find just a handful on the open market. These are very open and woody sounding instruments, and it's for this reason than artists like Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and Jackson Browne have played them, and often still play these beautiful instruments. This guitar is made around 1977. The S2M has bit more of the L shaped body, that is best compared to an OM model. A bit smaller compared to a dreadnought, but extremely well sounding. It has Honduran mahogany back and sides and an obvious premium Sitka spruce top with a rosewood bridge. The body is bound by a beautiful rosewood binding with a rope trim on top. The mahogany neck boasts an ebony fingerboard while the head has a rosewood peghead overlay and the original Schaller tuners. Obviously this 45 year old guitar has been played and there is plenty of wear. However, there are no repairs on the guitar, it is crackfree and will only need a neck reset in the near future. The guitar is great fun to play, but most of all: it sounds like a million bucks! With original case. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
