1962 Hofner 500/1 Beatle Bass made in between both of Paul's famous basses ! This is one of the most well known Basses in the world made famous by Paul McCartney of the Beatle's. Paul bought his 1st Hofner, known as the "Cavern" Bass from the German Club, because of its lightweight & a cheap price of about 30 pounds. Paul's 2nd Hofner was a 1963 very similar to our Bass & he still owns it & tours on it to this day. This cool '62 example of ours is from a transitional period in between both of Paul's Basses. Its Sunburst finish is worn but quite cool in all respects. It has a 2 piece "unbound" maple neck w/a clean Gold stenciled Hofner logo. The is the absolute best playing 500/1 we have ever owned & we've had dozens over the past 30 years. It has the desirable original 2-in-line tuning machines used only during this 2 year period. Its body has a spruce top w/a Hofner decal on it over a flamey maple back & sides. It has a pair of transitional Pickups that have the earlier Cavern's "Diamond Hofner" logo embossed covers w/4 adjustable pole pieces (pre-staple poles). It has the slimmer pickup surrounds w/side adjustment screws. It has a small pearloid control plate & a long tailpiece. Its perfect pickgard is a new aged reissue type. This bass came to me via Italy but originally from Lisbon, Portugal from its original owner who played the hell out of this bad boy. The back of the headstock wears a plaque from the original store in "Lisboa" w/a matching plaque on its case.  It has a build date of April 6th, 1962 inside its body which was my 3rd Birthday so I should keep her for life. It is an exceptional player in Excellent all original condition & comes w/its beat up original shaped Beige tolex hard case.
