Hofner / President / 1965 / Original Sunburst / Guitar For Sale

Hofner has a long history of musical instrument manufacture stretching back to the 19th Century. If any company is set to survive it has to follow trends and their guitar output has become part of legend in no small part due to the popularity of a quartet from Liverpool.

The President was introduced as in 1952 as Hofner's middle of the range archtop guitar, and enjoyed a long production run of around 20 years into the late 70's.

This is a thinline version from 1965, and we've got to admit it's absolutely gorgeous. Hofner's of this vintage don't have the best reputation for their structural integrity, but this one is in absolutely tip top shape, with no signs of any warping, cracks, breaks or repairs.

Everything on this guitar is totally original, including all the electronics, hardware, frets, and plastics.

Interestingly while most Presidents from this year are equipped with the Type-511 "Staple" hum bucking pickups, this one has the Type-510 single coils.

This guitar sounds great, it has plenty of unplugged acoustic volume, and when plugged into a low wattage tube amp it's a one way ticket to those iconic early rock'n'roll guitar tones. It's a joy to play too, the original frets are on the low side but still play perfectly, and the lightweight thinline body makes for a effortlessly fun guitar.

Undoubtedly the nicest Hofner President on the market right now, don't let it get away...
