I think the kid was a little sad about selling his guitar, but when life hands you lemons, you have to make lemonade. I will give him credit where it's due- he was a young rocker that played in a band, so this guitar was not cursed to sit behind glass, mounted on somebody's wall. Nope, this guy was a true player and he gave me hope that this younger generation will carry the mantle of Rock forward.
This Jem has a greasy lightning-fast neck with low action. I knew it was a killer when my tech asked how much I was going to list it for. Now let it be known that his significant other would put us both on a burning stake if I sold him a 5k guitar, so I made sure to avoid certain death by telling him no way, Jose.
This guitar has been loved and played- there are no less than 1.65221 million pick swirls, light surface scratches and the three dings pictured. You'll have no hesitation throwing this one over your shoulder and getting straight to work! There is a bit of oxidation on the tremolo and back plate which seems to be a common occurrence with these Jems. The good news is, there are no neck cracks in the cutaways, so you know that nothing has been tweaked, yanked or snatched hard.
