Kramer / 650-B Artist ** ON HOLD ** / 1979 / Natural / Bass

I always wonder when I first play a bass what it will bring out of me with it's tone. Some basses bring out Rush, while others bring out something a little older or heavier. This Kramer immediately brought out Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" when switched to the neck pickup. It has a wonderful little growl that I instantly liked and I wish I still had my '68 SVT rig here. I would have most certainly given my neighbors a little "what- for" this morning. The bridge pickup, on the other hand is brighter and a little more active sounding, so I went straight into Rush's "Freewill" on that setting and did the best I could. There's nobody close to Geddy Lee here in the 'Elkcave, but I always give it my best shot. This 650-B Artist is among the cleanest I've ever seen and I somehow suspect it's been stashed away in a collection for a good many years. Both the bass and case are in exceptionally clean, original condition and the instrument shows virtually no signs of playwear. The figured Walnut and birdseye Maple compliment each other nicely and the chrome is shiny and unpitted. Believe it or not, the Walnut pickup surrounds are unbroken and like new- that's always a rare and pleasant surprise! There's also no separation of the wood and metal on the neck, so playing is both effortless and a true joy. Finding 35 year- old basses this clean is getting to be quite the challenge these days, so when it does happen, I'm always excited to put them through their paces and present them in their best light. Please feel free to call or email with any questions and thanks for stopping by the bass department here in 'Elkland!
