Lawrence K Brown / Lawrence K. Brown 0040 12-Fret / 2016 / Guitar

Lawrence K Brown has been a full time professional luthier since 1977 and has  built and sold over 2,200 instruments.  After graduating with an M.A. in Medieval English Literature he concentrated on research and construction of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque lutes and guitars.  After building around 1,300 of these it was time for something different! He has always loved old-time Appalachian folk music and plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and banjo with his partner Karen Bartlett and their  friends. Since 2008 Lawrence has concentrated on building replicas of famous older American parlor guitars, striving for authenticity and excellence of craftsmanship and tone.   This 00 sized, style 40 instrument measures 14 inches across the lower bout, and is considerably larger than a style 2 instrument. About the same size as a classical guitar, or a L-00, only with 12 frets to the body. It uses some spectacular pieces of Oak for both the back and sides matched to a Spruce top. The style 40 abalone inlays of the top truly set it apart from anything else without ever feeling like it's too much. One of the most remarkable details of this instrument is that the neck, which is made of oak, has been attached to the body using a classic "Viennese bolt" construction. It allows the neck to pivot on the four cup and pan head screws for raising or lowering the string action. With this system you have no neck resets ever, no bridge saddle height adjustments, and perfect string action every time. Some people claim that you need a glued dovetail joint for good sound, but this is not true. This guitar sounds fantastic, and is worry-free! Other features include an ebony fingerboard with style 40 abalone position markers, bound headstock with rosewood headstock overlay and abalone flowerpot inlay and a built in passive Fishman piezo pickup. Condition is Very Good; the instrument looks pretty clean but has playwear, dings and other marks in the finish of primarily the top. Includes hardshell case. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
