Louis Manteau / MDC Indian Rosewood Sitka Spruce / Guitar For Sale

Louis Manteau is a guitar maker from Chantilly, France. After studying law, he realized that building the instrument he discovered as a child playing Guitar Hero was his true passion. What began as a new hobby took a whole new turn when he applied for an internship with the one and only Ervin Somogyi! His hard work and dedication paid off, as he was offered a two-year internship in Oakland, California. This Modified Dreadnought with cutaway is Louis's #13 and a beautiful instrument created during his internship with Ervin Somogyi in Oakland. It's one of the last two guitars he built in California and represents a turning point in his work. During the two years he spent with Somogyi, Louis developed not only his craftsmanship but also his own aesthetic. Somogyi helped him refine what he wanted his guitars to be and how they should sound. The Modified Dreadnought is one of Ervin Somogyi's most renowned models, known for its deep, lived-in tone with exceptionally present bass and depth. This particular guitar also marks Louis's own artistic development. Somogyi encouraged him to integrate the sculpted pieces he created for pleasure into his guitars, which proved a real challenge. The result is the hand-carved and polished ebony rosette resting on red Japanese paper, a material Somogyi often uses himself. With this, Louis has created his own interpretation of his mentor's iconic carved rosettes. The guitar features solid Indian rosewood back and sides combined with a Sitka spruce top, supported by non-scalloped X-bracing. The Honduran mahogany neck has a comfortable C-profile with a compound radius ebony fingerboard, guaranteeing excellent playability. The West African ebony bridge and binding contribute to both the instrument's visual appeal and tonal qualities. With this guitar, Louis has embarked on a new path that he plans to explore and refine even further. The shapes of the carved ebony are meant to inspire, just as they inspired him. This guitar comes with a spec sheet and TFOA passport in a Hiscox hardshell case. Consignment.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
