Lowden / O38C Brazilian Cedar / 1995 / Guitar

Rare early Lowden O-38 from 1995. The O or Jumbo model is a very powerful sounding instrument, but still manages to be convincing when played in a more subtle manner. This 38 model was constructed using a beautiful Dark Red Cedar top and extremely rare Brazilian Rosewood back and sides (CITES included). This Lowden O=38C is also known as 'The 38'. The 38 dates back to 1976 when George first made a 38 style guitar for Alastair Burke, which resulted in a flood of orders and exploding sales for George and his small team. These days he would probably have called it O50c (and the price tag would have been around 15000 euro when New) But George Decided to continue the O38 model. What George tells us about the 38 series: ‘I first made the 38 back in 1976 for a friend of mine Alastair Burke. Normally I don’t use much shell inlays in my guitars but with this model I’ve indulged a little. Subtle use of leaf shaped abalone fingerboard inlays and soundboard purfling combine with the ideal choice of reclaimed Brazilian rosewood and a cedar top. One of my preferred choices now!’ Like every Lowden this one is beautifully built, sounds fantastic and plays beautifully. Great for finger-picking, flatpicking, alternative tunings and normal tunings. The first moment you strum a string you can hear the clarity and typical piano like respons that a Lowden is so famous for. Both perfect for strumming or fingerstyle guitar. The guitar features Premium Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, Premium Dark Cedar soundboard, 5-piece mahogany-rosewood neck, Figured maple  binding, Rosewood/abalone purfling, abalone rosette, 38-style leaf inlays on the fretboard, Gotoh tuners with amber pearloid knobs and rosewood bridge. Nut Width 45mm ( 1 3/4) Scale length, 650mm (25,5), 57mm (2 1/4") stringspacing. Excellent condition; very clean for its age with minimal playwear and several small dings in the body finish. Has a strap button installed on the heel and a built in pickup. Includes original hardshell case, CITES. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
