Lowden / Wee 50 Fan Fret African Blackwood Sinker Redwood / Guitar

When George Lowden first began to design multiple scale (fan fret) guitars, logically he thought it would increase the depth of bass response - similar to the way a grand piano does due partly to the longer string length. When the bass response turned out to be deeper in comparison to standard guitars, George wondered which effect it would have on the smallest guitar of the bunch, the Wee Lowden. The Wee Lowden has a smaller soundbox (already voiced for extra bass) and George thought it would greatly benefit of the so called gliding scale. This example shows that the Wee Lowden has even a deeper basrespons than its non-fanned brother. The result is the Lowden Wee 50 Fan Fret. A custom fan fret Wee Lowden from the 50 series (dubbed The Custom Shop of Lowden guitars) that uses unique and spectacularly figured Mastergrade African Blackwood for the back and sides creating a visual and tonal landscape of unheard or -seen proportions. The top is made from Mastergrade Dark Sinker Redwood. Redwood originates from 1000 year old trees which have been preserved underwater for at least a century. The top has been appointed highly figured tasmanian blackwood bindings, purflings made of mahogany, rosewood and maple, and features a rosette made of Tasmanian Blackwood and abalone. The 5-piece mahogany/rosewood neck with standard GL shape meets the body at the 14th fret. The fretboard is made out of ebony and has been bound with ebony and maple. The ebony headstock over- and underlay offer a great contrast to the gold Gotoh 510 tuners. The nutwidth is 47,3 mm and has a stringspacing of 65mm. This guitar features a custom fanned fret option, which uses a gliding scale, which measures 650 mm at the bass side and 610mm on the treble side. Includes limited Lifetime warranty, deluxe Hiscox hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
