MHP RAW Preamp

Imagine having an overdrive tone so responsive to playing dynamics and pickup output that it seamlessly integrates with your amp...

You work hard to get a drop dead great guitar and amp sound - the MHP RAW Preamp retains everything you love about your rig, adding harmonics and sensitivity. Fender, Gibson, DeArmond, Filtertron, lipstick, and P90's retain all of their unique qualities.

The MHP RAW Preamp is more of a harmonics infuser than a traditional overdrive, with gain ranging from very mild to just on the medium side of things - nothing obnoxious. Its design is more like a preamp than any standard drive pedal, with interstage tone and gain shaping galore between each gain stage. Different external voltages (from 9VDC up to 18VDC) produce different harmonic signatures and textures - 9VDC is a bit more gritty, crude, primal, and cutting, while 18VDC is more smooth and fluid with just some heat around the notes and chords - choose a voltage that works for your wants and needs.

MHP RAW Preamp features at a glance:

- preamp circuit design - 3 cascaded stages with ample interstage tone and gain shaping
- no op amps or clipping diodes
- 9VDC, 12VDC, 18VDC operation
- voiced to stay clear and uncompressed, with a cleverly slight bump in the mids
- enhances harmonics more than it creates traditional distortion
- very sensitive to different guitars' specific charcteristics

Each MHP RAW Preamp features a completely hand distressed enclosure to complete the vibe!
Featuring true bypass, entirely wired by hand with off-board jacks and pots, with a handmade overbuilt circuitboard.

This pedal is NOT an amp simulator, - the design is an actual 3 gain stage cascaded preamp - no clipping diodes, no op amp IC's, no standard OD pedal design.

Try the MHP RAW Preamp alongside OD or drive pedals that are familiar - the "resolution" is clearer, warmer, and more dynamic than what you've grown accustomed to. Stinging blues, snarl from a Tele or Gretsch, or that cutting "Dirty Deeds" tone, "Highway Star" tone, Freddie King tone - all possibilities.

Who And What We Are  MHP is Keith Aviles. But the old saying that no man is an island is truly appropriate, as the "MHP Unofficial Roster" is so responsible in many ways for helping to ensure that the pedals and mods really perform, that you receive them quickly, and that there is no need to outsource (even locally), to ensure that Keith's ideas, vision, personal building style, and picky quality control process are never compromised. For this reason, the plural references in regards to MHP will stay as they are. Everything is done in house and entirely by hand, including drilling and powdercoating enclosures, 100% hand wiring, design and implementation of enclosure graphics, and even etching of the circuit boards.

Why Choose A Pedal From MHP?  That is the big question, and can really only be answered by the individual guitarist. The needs of any two are rarely the same. And no amount of mass advertising and self touted credentials will ever truly communicate that, either. So we are counting on the "MHP Recipe" to make true believers out of you, if we have to do it one email at a time, one phone conversation at a time, one sale at a time. This recipe combines a knowledge of technology, design, production, creativity, research, and a true desire to communicate with you. There's a touch of bravado as well, as Keith is not one to simply replicate classic designs. Some unusual techniques are used to reach goals as well, along with a 21st century mindset.

...But what is obviously important is how MHP pedals sound and perform. You will most likely be pleasantly surprised. Very surprised. This is backed up by the "one week deal" with standard MHP hand built pedals.
