The 00 body size has been part of Martin's catalogue since the late 1800s, but it was historically less common with rosewood (Style 28) back and sides, especially after the shift to 14-fret necks. In the modern era, Martin reintroduced the 00-28 to its Standard Series to offer a high-quality, smaller-bodied instrument that provides the classic "Style 28" appointments and East Indian rosewood tone in a comfortable Grand Concert size. It's often praised for delivering a robust sound that belies its compact dimensions. It is a favourite among fingerstyle players and singer-songwriters due to its intimate size and beautifully balanced sound with clear trebles and warm bass. It features scalloped X-bracing (specifically "GE Scalloped" for the 2021 "Reimagined" model) which allows the solid spruce top to vibrate more freely, enhancing resonance and sustain. The neck has a modern, comfortable profile: the "Modified Low Oval" shape with a "High-Performance Taper”. Every guitar in this series undergoes a precise PLEK setup process for optimal playability, ensuring minimal buzzing and consistent fret performance across the neck.
