Martin / 0018K Hawaiian Koa Rare W/ Original Case / 1920 / Guitar

This one is special folks. We got its younger sister, an 018K, here a few months ago. This Martin 0018K has been made in 1920 and is made from Hawaiian Koa. Martin produced the Koa guitars since 1918 and it took 5 years until it appeared in the catalog. They made a total number of 61 0018K guitars in 1920. This rare piece of Martin history has even its original hardcase and it's in great shape. The guitar has two repaired cracks and a centerseam split. Two patches have been glued in order to keep it together. It is an old guitar nonetheless and it has been used. The majority of the braces is original and untouched. Two tone braces have been replaced skillfully. The bridgeplate is non-original and has been replaced as well as the bridge itself. The bone saddle has also been replaced. The mahogany neck is original and features a hard V-shape and the original ebony fretboard. The guitar has had a neck reset and a refret. It seems that the fretboard has been sanded down in order to get the action down and prevent a neck reset, which was unavoidable. This guitar has been through some repairs, but the result is a great sounding guitar which is in excellent playing condition. The frets are good as new and the action is low. This guitar has a rich and warm tone, which is very clear and balanced and has a very sweet mid-/high-midrange. It is also very dynamic and has enough volume. The hardshell case that comes with the guitar is in amazing condition considering its age and the lining is still perfect. The neck rest isn't as stable as it once was, but all in all this case is great. Its very nice to see a guitar this old coming in with its original case that has been at it's side for 98 years. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
