Martin / D-41 / 1985 / Natural / Guitar

1985 Martin D-41 - Natural incl. black Martin hardshell case w./blue interior

Rare 1985 Martin D-41 Dreadnought acoustic guitar, all original and in excellent/-near mint condition for its age. The former owner of this guitar was the author of the book "Martin Guitars - An Illustrated Celebration of America's Premier Guitarmaker", Jim Washburn. This guitar was given to him by Martin guitars for his work on the book. The guitar had been sitting in a glass display in the Lehigh Valley International Aiport near Nazareth where Martin is based. While standing in the display, it developed a minor  top crack next to the soundhole. A martin covered the area with a guitar strap - this is why this section is a little lighter than the rest of the top. The crack was professionally repaired. The guitar has no serial number but it's very likely that it's an 1985 model because it has an adjustable trussrod. There is a letter from Jim Washburn with even more information (see picture). The guitar plays and sounds great, a loud guitar with crystal highs. The action is great as well! There is some minor weather checking but overall it's in great condition. The D-41 was the top-of-the line model for Martin in the early 70s with its beautiful abalone inlays around body-binding and soundhole and the extensive hexagon abalone inlays in the ebony fretboard. Solid Rosewood dreadnought- style body with a solid spruce top, lightweight, can´t go wrong as this almost 40 year old classic ist still lower priced than a brandnew Martin D-41! Comes in a original black Martin hardshell case with blue interior.
