A superb new McNally Guitars SD in Sunburst from Northern Irish luthier Ciaran McNally, who we’ve been stocking here since day one. Built with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, and this is the exact guitar currently showcased on Ciaran’s site for this model.
In Ciaran’s words:
“The SD is my modern take on the classic slope shoulder dreadnought. I’ve made the shape a little curvier in places, but the fundamental proportions of the design are unchanged.
The main difference from an SD versus a traditional dreadnought is the scale length. Here we have a shorter 24.9” which reduces the string tension, giving a warm & woody tone, as well as increased playability. The tone naturally leans more vintage, particularly in its most natural wood combination of spruce and mahogany.”
