Luthier Michael Cadiz started out his guitar life early on as a player - he spent time studying at the Chicago College of Performing Arts with Sergio Assad, the Conservatoire National de Region de Clermont-Ferrand in France with Jean-Pierre Billet and privately in Seattle with Michael Nicolella. He has performed in many small chamber ensembles, master classes and was a prizewinner in the Northwest Classical Guitar Competition. He has also played the guitar with a handful of local folk/rock bands that have recorded and toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe. However his deep calling is in lutherie and for the past several years has been the dedicated focus of his journey with the guitar and he has been building a variety of exceptionally well-made instruments based primarily on traditional designs of Torres. Romanillos and Hauser are also strong influences.

This guitar is a modified version of Michael's "Modern Concert Model". He loosened it up just a bit more than usual to give it a fast and lively attack with big basses and warmer trebles. The sound is fat and full with big basses and thick trebles however the notes don't crowd each other out - the clarity between voices is beautifully maintained amidst the richness of sound. Playability is easy with a sleek, comfortable neck and it projects beautifully making it ideal for any sized concert hall. Materials chosen include some beautiful pau ferro for the sides and four-piece back. Fitted with nickel silver Alessi tuners with ebony buttons. The custom rosette is inspired by the 1888 Torres (SE114) owned by Francisco Tarrega.

Michael's craftsmanship is superb - the "fit and finish" of the instrument is done with meticulous attention to detail. Overall a fantastic instrument, particularly at this price point.

Founded in 1983, Guitar Salon International (GSI) is the world’s largest dealer of concert-level classical and flamenco guitars. For over 35 years now, we serve players, collectors and aficionados by offering the best hand-built instruments of leading young guitar makers as well as those of established historical masters. In this process, we acquire and sell many of the most desirable instruments in history, and we subsequently help to assemble important private collections. With the involvement of top concert artists (including Pepe Romero, Scott Tennant, Marc Teicholz, Andrew York and others), GSI showcases several exceptional guitars through audio, video, studio-CD and live concert recordings.

Guitar Salon International established the GSI Foundation in 2011 after receiving public donations aimed at community development. The Foundation’s mission is to help develop the local community by raising money to support music education in public schools. These local schools are then offered assistance to pay teachers, provided with instruments for students who cannot afford them, and supplied with musicians for performances that can inspire kids to play a musical instrument.

If a return is requested within 48 hours of the guitar's arrival, a full refund will be issued*** (less shipping charges and assuming original condition), or another guitar can be sent on trial.
