PRS / Angelus Cutaway Steve Fischer / 2010 / Guitar

When Paul Reed Smith wanted to add a line of high-end acoustics, he brought in Steve Fischer to oversee the process and to make an acoustic that was worthy of the PRS brand. Play a Steve Fischer instrument and it is easy to see why Paul did, they are guitars that are beautiful to look at, exquisitely built and with a superb tone. While Steve did not stay at PRS for very long (I've read his family could not adapt to east coast living), The designs developed during Steve's tenure are still being built as Private Stock models at PRS to this day. The Angelus is a Grand Auditorium / OM sized instrument, with this one featuring an optional Venetian cutaway. The top is built using a gorgeous set of Adirondack Spruce, complemented beautifully by the Cocobolo back, sides, bridge, headstock overlay, heelcap and fretboard. This is a very lightly braced instrument and it is powerful, yet balanced across the frequency spectrum and quite clear-voiced. The braces underneath the top are made of spruce, whilst the braces on the back of the guitar are made of mahogany. The pattern is a mix between a standard X-bracing and classical bracing. It is very responsive to your level of attack, so it is easily shifted from subtle and nuanced to loud and thundering. Though well-suited for fingerstyle players, this model is versatile enough for myriad musical styles. It doesn't just sound great acoustically, but also through PRS' own proprietary Piezo pickup and preamp system that was built it in at the factory at the time. Born in the PRS Maryland shop, PRS Acoustics are heirloom-quality instruments with remarkable tone and exquisite playability. A small team of experienced luthiers handcraft all Maryland-made PRS acoustics with passion and attention to detail. With responsive and clear highs, crisply defined lows and a sweet midrange, the PRS Angelus Cutaway boasts a remarkable voice and lasting sustain. It's still in excellent condition, showing the main play wear on the top of the instrument. Most of it is surface level, but there are a few minor dings that can be felt through the finish. Nevertheless, it looks great for an almost 15-year-old guitar and has a gorgeous played-in tone, besides the usually luscious and open tones we're used to from Steve's instruments.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
