PRS / McCarty Archtop I Carved Spruce / 1998 / Guitar

The PRS McCarty Archtop I is really a unique one. This special edition is the only one with a carved spruce top instead of the usual carved maple or mahogany. The guitar was only produced in 1998 to 2001. This one is from 1998. Of the very limiteded edition that was made at the time, only a few are still on the market, but none like this one. The guitar's body is constructed from a fraced piece of mahogany wood. This means that the body of the guitar is cut from a solid block, so that the sides and the back are made of one piece of wood, where they are usually glued together. The top has the unique feature of this guitar. A carved spruce top. Because it is carved, it has an eccentric 'arched' top. With a one piece body and a carved arched top, she has a very full sound. Because the bridge is supported by a block of mahogany wood, she retains a lot of 'sustain' and stability. The body type is the PRS Hollow Mahogany Deep Body which means that she is 70mm (2.75 inch) deep at the rim, which is uniquely deep for a PRS.  The PRS McCarty Archtop I is powered by specially designed PRS McCarty Humbuckers. These nickle plated humbuckers have a thick sound which can be regulated with the volume, tone control and the 3-way pickup selector. In addition, she has a nickel Adjustable Stoptail bridge and nickel tuners with ebony knobs which are both at the top of the 'high-end' material. The rosewood fingerboard has an Abalone Birds Inlay. This birds inlay is not standard on this model and actually only became an option in 1999, the year after she came out. Another extra detail that makes this guitar even more special.  She is in excellent condition with two dings on the top and some minimal playwear on the back. You can also see that she has been treated with love and extreme care all these years. Includes case.  We sell this guitar for Doug Chandler from Chandler Guitars Limited is a good dealer of PRS. Because of his good relationship with PRS, they have received the McCarty Archtop as one of the first. We sell this guitar for them on consignment.  Specifications Model: McCarty Archtop I Finish: Satin finish Body Material: Mahogany Top Material: Carved Spruce Lefty No Body Details: Maple bindings Neck Material: Mahogany Neck Profile: wide-fat Fingerboard Material: Rosewood Fingerboard Radius: 10" Neck Details: Abalone Birds fingerboard inlays, Nutwidth: 42.5 mm - 1 11/16" Scale Length: 628 mm - 24 23/32" Bridge: PRS Adjustable Stoptail  Tailpiece: None Pickups: McCarty Archtop pickups Tuners: PRS Chrome Tuners Controls: Volume, Tone, 3-way switch Weight: 2.76kg Condition: Exellent Cosmetic Condition: A small ding on the top Modifications/ Repairs: None Tech Notes: None Travels in: Hardshell case Accessories: Booklets, Warranty information, Trussrod adjustment Key

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
