Paul Reed Smith Prs / JA-15 Paul Jackson Jr. / 2010 / Black / Guitar
One look at the Paul Reed Smith JA 15 and the word “jazz” might run through your head. But, that’s an absolute understatement. Sure, when Paul Smith got together with “American Idol” and “The Tonight Show” guitarist Paul Jackson, Jr., they originally conceived of the JA 15 as an incredible hollowbody jazz guitar. But as they started to make refinements to it, it became clear: the JA 15 was amazing for jazz, rock, and pretty much everything in between. Plain and simple, the JA 15 is a great guitar.
It features beautiful tone and beautiful looks for days, courtesy of the spruce top, curly maple back, and mahogany sides. And the popular PRS 53/10 humbucking pickups definitely do this beauty justice, giving the JA 15 a smokey yet sweet tone that has just the right amount of sauce when you dig into it. Another cool feature is the “Pattern” neck shape, an updated version of the popular PRS “Wide Fat” carve that is a throw back to Paul’s pre-factory days…the shape he used on custom guitars for Santana, Frampton, and a slew of top players.
To top it all off, the PRS JA 15 hollowbody guitar features the PRS “V12” finish introduced at Experience PRS 2010. It’s a thin, hard, clear finish that won’t crack or react with thinners. In fact, the “12” in the name stands for the nearly 12 years of development that went into it. Think of it as somewhere between acrylic and nitro, but with a classic feel that’s all its own. Long story short? You’re going to love the Paul Reed Smith JA 15.
This Black example is 1 of the prettiest Hollow PRS we’ve seen w/its cream binding all over. Like a nice tuxedo, she’ll rock your next gig. Completed by Paul January 12th, 2010. It’s truly exceptionally clean & comes w/its case candy & hang tag all in its original black hard case.
