Mossman guitars are considered to be some of the better handcrafted instruments from the 70s and 80s. In direct competition with other high-end brands, Stuart Mossman’s guitars could be rightfully compared to Michael Gurian who was also active around the time time period. In fact, it is our opinion that Gurians are to fingerpicking what Mossmans are to flatpicking. Mossman combined high-quality workmanship with great attention to detail to create some of the finest guitars of his era and helped to pioneer the small factory guitar. This is a very clean & all original early production example of Stuart’s Great Plains model. It’s got all of his earliest features w/a lovely Herringbone bound Spruce top w/a beautiful 2 piece Indian Rosewood back & sides like a D-28. These had a less desirable 3 piece back like a D-35 by 1976. The headstock overlay has their 1st small logo & sports a set of Grover tuners. Its 1 piece mahogany neck feels great. Its got its original factory label signed by 16 employees working there at the time. Its small shaped pickgard surrounds its Herringbone rosette. Its dark ebony fingerboard matches its striped ebony bridge. Its excellent overall having no cracks with minimal wear & play time. She comes w/a nice Gibson hard case.
