The 1445 was a Kay-built semi-hollow body with Les Paul looks and a curly maple top. It had those soap-bar sized 'speed bump' pickups, and knobs galore. Introduced in 1961 made till 1964 very rare. The Silvertone has a laminated maple top and a maple neck with a beautiful rosewood fretboard. Equipped with three DeArmond Speed bumb pickups. The speed bump pickups combined with the tone control make the guitar versatile with a characteristic tone. Just like the old Rickenbackers the Silvertone is finished with a checkered binding. Unfortunately this guitar has “binding rot” problems, like many other vintage guitars. This is however not a problem at all for the distinctive vintage Silvertone sound. Fabulous blues machine with a massive sound!
